Mission
CrossRoads Corporation for Affordable Housing and Community Development, Inc. is a faith-based, nonprofit organization that through partnerships honors the history and supports the collective vision of rejuvenation, economic stability, healthy living, and educational achievement within the Grier Heights community.
Our vision is that Grier Heights will be transformed residentially and economically, and the quality of life dramatically improved with a constant focus on justice to its residents throughout the process.
History
After years of study to identify opportunities where it could make an impact on the Charlotte community, Myers Park Presbyterian Church (MPPC) founded CrossRoads Corporation for Affordable Housing and Community Development, Inc. on July 1, 2008. Expanding its existing relationship with Billingsville Elementary School, a Charlotte-Mecklenburg public school located in Grier Heights, MPPC made a significant commitment of time, talent and $1,500,000 to assist in the revitalization of Grier Heights. Additionally, critical support for CrossRoads’ mixed income housing initiative was provided by seven individuals, known as CrossRoads Angel Investors, each of whom funded the purchase of a lot in Grier Heights for CrossRoads’ later development.
Under the leadership of Neill McBryde, a Board of Directors was established comprised of a diverse group of individuals passionate about Grier Heights. The Board of Directors included not only members and staff of MPPC, but residents and representatives of the neighborhood, the pastors of Grier Heights Presbyterian Church and Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, two churches located in Grier Heights.
